This year, from November 17 to 27, the Fête de la Science took place, an annual event organized by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research.
A total of 2134 students from kindergarten to the end of secondary school, from all over Guadeloupe, took part in the event.
This year’s theme, “Sport and Science”, was fittingly represented by the Grand Port Maritime de Guadeloupe (GPMG), which had a stand from Tuesday November 21 to Thursday November 23 in the Science Village on the Fouillole Campus.
407 participants aged 13 and over were also able to enjoy an immersive experience at depths of up to 12 meters during a coral transplant off the coast of îlet Cochon, using virtual reality headsets.
The animation proposed by GPMG focused on scientific diving, an activity included in GPMG’s environmental program, used for its coral restoration and marine ecosystem monitoring operations. This initiative provided an opportunity for professional scientific divers and the general public to discuss various aspects of scientific diving.
