In the context of the climate crisis and the degradation of marine ecosystems, innovative initiatives are emerging to preserve and restore valuable coastal ecosystems. Among these, the LIFE ADAPT’ISLAND project in Guadeloupe stands out for its integrated approach and promising results. The hybrid workshop on climate adaptation, preservation and restoration of coastal ecosystems is organized by PILOT4DEV in partnership with the actors of the LIFE adapt’island Project URAPEG FNE GUADELOUPE and the Great Seaport of Guadeloupe.
Since 2020, these workshops have become unmissable events for actors committed to the preservation of the environment in Guadeloupe. The current workshop focuses specifically on the efforts of the Adapt’Island project, an ambitious initiative co-financed by the European Union and supported by the GPMG Guadeloupe Harbour since 2019.
The main objective of the Adapt’Island project is to revitalize coastal marine ecosystems, including corals and mangroves, over a vast maritime area of 8,000 hectares in Guadeloupe. Beyond simple ecological restoration, this project aims to establish effective methodologies that could be replicated in other territories facing similar challenges.
This hybrid workshop brings together experts, researchers, government representatives, local actors and members of civil society to exchange knowledge, share experiences and discuss best practices in climate change adaptation and coastal ecosystem preservation.
The hybrid workshop reflects the ongoing commitment of the Adapt’ Island project partners to promote sustainable management of marine resources and strengthen the resilience of coastal ecosystems to the impacts of climate change. By fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration among stakeholders, this event helps accelerate environmental conservation efforts in Guadeloupe and beyond.
